Earth's Cycles Project

Part I

Rock Cycle
1. How does a metamorphic rock become a sedimentary rock?
-Weathering breaks down the rock into sediments. Sediments moves by erosion into water. Then by compaction and cementation sedimentary rock forms.

2. How does Magma change into metamorphic rocks?
-Magma goes out and called Lava. Lava gets cold and turns into igneous rock. Igneous rock changes its shape by heat and pressure into metamorphic rock.

Carbon Cycle
3. How does a consumer become a fossil fuel?
-When they die, their remains goes underground by decomposers and turns into fossil fuel.

4. How can a fossil fuel be used in photosynthesis?
-Burning of fossil fuels releases CO2 emissions into air, and in photosynthesis plants use CO2 to produce O2.

Water Cycle
5. How does a lake water turn into clouds?
-Because of sunlight in the lake happens evaporation and evaporation creates water vapor. Then happens condensation process in which water vapors turns into clouds.

6. How can a cloud turn into groundwater?
-First happens precipitation process, it causes run-off. Then water goes underground by infiltration.

Part II

Essential Questions
1. How are rock, carbon and water cycles connected to hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere and atmosphere?

Hydrosphere-is the water layer of Earth.

Hydrosphere and carbon cycle connected to each other by photosynthesis, because plants use groundwater in photosynthesis process. Hydrosphere and rock cycle connected to each other
by erosion and weathering.

Lithosphere-Land, underground.

Most of the processes in rock cycle happens underground. Creation of metamorphic rock and sedimentary rock, melting of metamorphic rock. Lithosphere and water cycle connected to each other by infiltration and underground water. Lithosphere and carbon cycle connected to each other by fossil and fossil fuels.

Atmosphere-air that covers the Earth.

Atmosphere and carbon cycle connected to each other by CO2 emissions, CO2 and O2. Atmosphere and water cycle connected to each other by evaporation, water vapors, precipitation and transpiration. Atmosphere and rock cycle connected to each other by weathering and eruption.

Biosphere-Living world.

Biosphere and rock cycle connected to each other by eruption, because eruption releases CO2 for plants. Biosphere and water cycle connected to each other by transpiration. Biosphere and carbon cycle connected to each other by consumers, decomposers and producers.

2. How are the three cycles (rock, carbon & water) connected to each other?
- Carbon cycle connected to rock cycle by fossil because fossil is a type of sedimentary rock (Coal).
Carbon cycle and water cycle also connected to each other. In photosynthesis plants use groundwater that is in water cycle. Rock cycle and water cycle connected to each other by precipitation, weathering and erosion.

Reflection

1.What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
-Create background because it was fun.
2.What was most challenging for you during this project and why?
-To make a story because at the beginning I didn't understand how rock cycle works.
3.What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
-I learned more about Rock cycle, Water cycle and Carbon cycle and how these three cycles connected with each other.
4.Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work? Explain.
-I could make the background more colorful, it would be more interesting to watch the video.

                                                          Sleep & Learning
Reflection:

     1. How does sleep effect your learning?
- While we are sleeping our brain gets break from all the things that we did whole day. While we are sleeping brain will practice what we learned. If we get enough sleep, in the morning brain will be ready for new learning.
    2. How much sleep do you get each night? Do you think this is enough? Do you feel tired in the morning?
- I sleep at different time, but in average I sleep 6 hours. I think this not enough, because everyday in the morning I feel tired and I feel sleepy.
    3. Will you change what you do after reading about sleep and learning? Why or why not?
- I will change my daily routine, because my brain needs more break from the internet, music and television and needs more sleep.
